The Parlay strategy is quite a basic method of wagering, which can be applied to any form of betting, with the prospect of big wins. It is also called 'let-it-ride', which as the name implies, means that the winnings and stake from any bet are all placed on another wager (in the casino of roulette, often but not necessarily, on the same choice of number of group of numbers). This strategy is fairly crude and there is no realistic chance of making a steady profit using it, but it is quite fun and glamorous, and occasionally you may have a massive win which could be life changing. For instance, if betting on a single number on roulette you place just $/£1 and it wins, then you place it on the same or a different single number and this wins also, you will have a nice pile of chips of $/£1296 pushed back to you. 'Let-it-ride' again and win and you are up to $/£46656, and all for a $/£1 stake. Of course this happens very rarely, and when it you get to the point of betting 1296 units you will most likely be quite nervous, but everyone at the table will be looking at you like a high roller, and who knows, you just might hit! The Parlay system can have different names according to the sport or game it is being used at. For instance, in Horse Racing, it is called an accumulator. In this case a player will fill out a betting slip with 2 or more selections in different races, with any winnings from one race being automatically bet on the next race, and the prospect as with any other game it is used at, of a big win should all his selections be successful. Whilst I don't recommend using this system 'per-se', there are situations when it can be used without looking like a reckless gambler. Any time the bet you are making is even money, using this strategy can be fairly acceptable, as long as you set a limit on the stake you are willing to wager, and take your winnings when you hit this amount. |
